Disney Has Begun Screening “Mary Poppins Returns” as Part of Their FYC Campaign

Although Mary Poppins Returns won’t hit theaters until December 19th, Walt Disney has already begun an aggressive For Your Consideration award campaign.

The film has FYC screenings scheduled in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and London throughout November and December.

According to Variety, a Producers Guild screening on Saturday was met with applause and a standing ovation.

Disney is pushing Mary Poppins Returns for nominations in all major categories, as well as others such as best original song, best costume design or best makeup & hairstyling.

The original Mary Poppins remains the film that has granted Disney the most Oscar nominations to date, 13 in total, out of which it won 5.

Other films Disney is screening to voters this award season are Incredibles 2, Ralph Breaks The Internet, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther as well as the Pixar short Bao.

Mary Poppins Returns, a direct sequel to the 1964 classic, opens on December 19. Tickets are set to go on sale on November 26th at 11:30 AM. The film has been rated PG and its runtime is 130 minutes.
